Bennie Joseph "Joey"  Smith
Bennie Joseph “Joey” Smith, age 54 of Clarkesville, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018.
Born in Hazelhurst, Mississippi on December 27, 1963, he was a son of Bennie Smith Jr. of Mt. Airy and the late Billie Jean Breaux Smith. Mr. Smith was employed with Lee Arrendale State Prison for 31 years. He was a man of his word who impacted the lives of those around him. His family was extremely important to him, especially his grandchildren who were the light of his life. He enjoyed spending time with them and attended every game and event possible.
Survivors include wife of 26 years, Esther Anne Dockins Smith of Clarkesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Bradley and Niki Smith of Turnerville, Justin and Bailey Smith of Fort Benning, Anson and Candace Caudell and Aaron Caudell all of Clarkesville; father and stepmother, Bennie, Jr. and Joan Smith of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Rylee and Hallee Smith, Elliot and Ezra Smith, Addie Dills, Benjamin and Cooper Caudell; brother, Robert Smith of Mt. Airy; numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorial services are 4 pm on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Dr. Kenneth Franklin officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2 pm until the service hour on Tuesday at the funeral home.
