Obituary for Norman Schneider

NORMAN RICHARD SCHNEIDER age 83, died peacefully at home in Cornelia, Georgia on June 12th 2020 from heart failure.

Mr. Schneider was born to Norman Vanderbilt Schneider and Anne (Schaeffer) Schneider in Manhattan, New York, on May 21st, 1937 and he survived his brothers Robert, Allan, Scott and Charles. He is survived by his wife Olga, and his son Todd.

Mr. Schneider had many interesting careers including being a radio disc jockey, and later a television weatherman and then a factory representative for some of the largest lines of professional sound equipment. In the late 1970s he designed his own cinema surround sound system and presented Georgians with possibly their first surround sound experience playing Star Wars in his father’s cinema in Marietta Georgia. He then turned his surround sound hobby into a cinema equipment manufacturing company, Smart Theater Systems, that sold a full product-line of surround sound solutions. If you have enjoyed a good movie in movie theaters around the world, it’s possible that Mr. Schneider’s work has touched your life.
